This past Sunday, it was my joy and my privilege to share the final message in our series on The Lord’s Prayer. I learnt so much from spending time with God, studying and reflecting on what it means to pray, “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”

I really felt that there were two invitations I wanted to share with you all:

1. To recognize that this is a prayer for God’s leadership in our lives! We are praying for and we want God to lead us, and in response we must surrender to that leadership.
2. To recognize that temptations, trials, and tests are sure to come and that we aren’t praying in the hopes that they would never happen to us – rather we are praying that God would lead us safely through the testing of our faith into deliverance from evil.

I want to leave you with the comforting words of Psalm 23 – this is the leadership we are surrendering to! Even though we walk through many temptations, trials, and tests – we should fear no evil, for God is with us, He is leading us and He has delivered us!
